A NEW centre record of £2000 was set at C and D Auction Marts’ annual Ram Fair at Longtown, last week, when an unregistered Bluefaced Leicester from IC and JP Copeland, Bailey Mill, was knocked down to JW Smith-Jackson, Hightown.
This was followed at £1700 for a Texel shearling from regular sale topper, Mr Bell, Kirkton, Hawick, with a Texel ram lamb from the same home at £900.
Other breeds saw Suffolks peak at £750 for the champion from Kinning Hall, with Beltex to £800 for a shearling from Waterside, crosses to £650 for a Beltex cross Texel shearling from Parknook, and the Charollais offering peaked at £420 for a cross shearling from Carnaval.
