BUYERS from as far south as Wales and as north as Caithness were forward for United Auctions sale of 72 Suffolks and a select show of Zwartbles, where an in-lamb gimmer from Jimmy Douglas' Cairness flock topped the trade at 2500gns.
The Suffolk gimmer from Woodhead of Cairness, Fraserburgh, is by Baileys Rock Solid and changed hands served to Cairness Sir William, to Stewart Craft, Balgeddie Grove, Glenrothes.
Two other Suffolk gimmers from Highfield Farming's Knockem flock from Duns, attracted four-figure bids, selling at 1400gns and 1100gns to Alun Williams, Carmarthenshire and D and A Callan, Haverfordwest, respectively. The dearest, a daughter of Rhaeadr Frank, is scanned for twins to Rhaeadr Rolex, with the 1100gns gimmer being sired by Lakeview Heeza and served with a single to Rolex.
Zwartbles peaked at 150gns for a ewe from Messrs Simpson and Gillon of the Tardoes flock.
