Averages: 20 gimmers, £820.05.
A DISAPPOINTING show of Texel gimmers at the LiveScot Ladies event, at Lanark, saw only 50% of the catalogued entry find new homes.
It was nevertheless a good sale for John Forsyth, Glenside, Maybole, who not only sold the top two highest priced lots at 2600gns and 1600gns but also secured the lead flock average at £1132.25 for six.
His dearest was a daughter of the 85,000gns Cornmore Velvet Jacket out of a home-bred ewe by Hullhouse Space Cowboy. She sold served to the 5000gns Strathbogie You're the One, to Alasdair Beaton, Wester Crosshill, Slamannan.
Selling for 1600gns to Robert Bennett, Upper Hall, Meifod, Powys, for Mr Forsyth, was another by the same sire and due to You're The One. The dam is by Strathbogie Python.
Two other gimmers attracted four-figure prices, with both making 1000gns and consigned by Robbie Wilson, who owns the Milnbank flock at North Dorlaithers, Turriff. First was a daughter of the 6800gns Aman Vyrnwy, out of a ewe by Castlecairn Sas Commander. Scott Lambie, Ashcraig, Selkirk, forked out the cash for this entry which sold due to Strathbogie Yes Sir.
Mr Wilson received the same money for another the same way bred but due to Glenside Wild Boy. Steven Smith, Sunnyhill, Turriff, was the last man in.
