CHARLIE Boden's prize winning Sportsmans flock was back in the money at the Solway and Tyne Breeders' Club show and sale of in-lamb females at Carlisle, selling the two top priced lots at 6800gns and 2000gns.

The flock from Mellor Hall, Stockport, first secured the overall championship with a gimmer by the 145,000gns Knap Vicious Sid, which later topped the sale, selling to James Vaughan of Vaughan Farms, Oakfield, Kingsland, Leominster. An ET sister to the 13,000gns Sportsmans gimmer sold at Carlisle, the previous week, she is out of a home-bred ewe by Tullylagan Tonka, that was bred from a 4200gns Muiresk ewe. She sold carrying a pair to Knock Will-I-Am.

Minutes later, Kay Castle, Ulmus, Wahsingley, Peterborough, went to 2000gns for another Vicious Sid daughter from the same home, again bred from a home-bred Tonka daughter. She also sold due with a pair, but with Strathbogie Whiplash.

Next in the bidding stakes at 1500gns was a Sportsmans Tremendous II sired 2014-born ewe from local breeder, Richard Wilson's Eden Valley flock. Bred from a ewe by the 225,000gns Deveronvale Perfection, she sold due to Hexel Wildcard to HC and LA MacGillivray, Home Farm, Barcaldine, Oban.
