Only 10 lots out of the 61 catalogued were able to find new homes at John Vaughan's production sale of the Vorn pedigree Texel flock from Moorside, Bodenham, Hereford, on Monday.

The sale, at Borderway Mart, Carlisle, was topped at 700gns by a four-year-old Drinkstone-bred ewe, better known as PJ Proby. Initially purchased for 1700gns at the Drinkstone dispersal, this ewe which has been flushed three times, is by Goldies Supreme, and out of a full sister to Drinkstone Tasmania, the No 1 sire in 2014 with an index of 525. She sold to Craig Farming Co, Craig, Westerkirk, Langholm.

The first lot in the ring, a three-year-old by Drinkstone Usar Friendly, out of a ewe by Vorn Three, made 500gns selling with a ewe lamb at foot by Vorn Yardstick. This outfit headed south with C Pickford, Thornsett Cottage, Rainow, Macclesfield, Cheshire.

Duncan MacNiven, Craigfarg, Glenfarg, Perth, then went to 480gns for a gimmer with tup lamb at foot. She is by Vorn Vodka Joe and sold with ram lamb by Antur Wythaberyst.
