MORE than 100 classic and vintage tractors together with 41 classic motorbikes and 19 small-scale working models were on offer at Cheffins’ vintage sale at Cambridge.
Selling for the top price of £27,300 was a 1939 Marshall Model M which had been in the same family since new. This was followed at £15,750 for a 1966 Allis Chalmers D21 and £14,490 for a 1919 International Tital.
Other top sellers in the tractor section included a Rumley Model L15-25 at £11,550 and a 1920s Rumley Oil Pull at £11,000.
Classic cars were in demand and sold to £26,250 for a 1912 Sunbeam Tourer, with a 1960 Austin Healay ‘Frog Eye’ Sprite hitting £9975.
Motorcycles peaked at £7560 for a 1978 Triumph Bonneville with only 84 miles on the clock, while a 1954 BSA Road Rocket tribute machine realised £5940.
Of the more unusual lots, the highest price paid was £2750 for a well-presented Taylor twin-cylinder marine steam engine. Amongst the literature, £638 was paid for a rare Austin Farm Tractor handbook, while £286 was paid for an original Fordson Dexta dealer’s poster.
The signs section was hugely popular with £770 paid for a GP Tea enamel sign while a Fiat dealers’ illuminated sign made £572.
