A gimmer that stood overall champion at the pre-sale show went on to top the Hampshire Down breed association show and sale at Carlisle, selling for 1100gns.

The substitute entry, a Yarcombe Flashman daughter from Northern Ireland breeders, KP and AE McCarthy, Comber, Co Down, sold to new breeders M and V Collins, Low Ground Fold, Howsham, York.

The McCarthys also received 850gns for a ewe by Yarcombe Topper, in lamb to Ballycreelly Irish Ranger, from Matthew Jones and Rebecca Smith, Birchfield Way, Lawley, Telford.

Top price for Graham and Judith Galbraith's Graylen flock from Kendal, was 800gns paid for a gimmer by their Graylen Harley, purchased by J Hooks, Stank Hall Bungalow, Bullamoor, Northallerton. She changed hands due to Kelsey Overlord.

Another gimmer from the same stable then made 650gns selling to Louis Stainthorpe, Mortar Pit, Sneatonthorpe, Whitby, North Yorkshire. She is by Yarcombe Iceman and sold due to Morley Kudos.

Mr Hooks was back in buying mode, paying 650gns for a ewe lamb by Clogherny Eric from the McCarthys.
