A STRONG line-up of rams was forward at North West Auctions’ Rough Fell Sheep Breeders’ Association sale, where an entry of 192 head averaged £643.50 and reached a top price of 9500gns.
Sale leader was the reserve champion, High Cark Awesome, a son of Flakebridge Viper, from I, J and M Mallinson, Borrow Bridge House, Selside. This shearling sold to Norman Dodd, Kirkby Stephen.
On the other side of the coin, Mr Dodd sold a shearling for 5500gns to the Mallinsons, while another shearling from MJ and JD Handley, Catholes, Sedbergh, sold for 5000gns to MP and A Capstick, High Lane.
The champion ram, the first prize shearling from E and K Bland of Cotegill, Tebay, sold for 3800gns to Amy Harrison, Kentmere. He is a son of Barugh Watch Me Go.
Ram lambs met a selective trade, having levelled at £243.60 and peaked at 550gns from JA Law, Raven Cottage, to D and HM Watson, Middleton Hall.
