A LARGER and better show for quality of store lambs was forward at C and D Auction Marts’ sale at Longtown on Tuesday, where an entry of 7521 head reached a top price of £74 for a pen of Texels from Potter, The Park.
The 1972 Cheviot lambs proved harder to cash, peaking at £60 for Hill Northies from Messrs Acton, Bradley, while Hill Cheviots sold to £57 for the second prize pen from the Irvings at Mountbenger, Selkirk.
Among the 2058 Blackface lambs, all classes sold sharper on the week and it was the champion pen from Messrs Walton, Birtley, Hexham, that topped at £52.50.
Feeding ewes reached a top of £67 from High Tirfergus.
