A MUCH smaller sale of Blackface rams for the breed's second sale at Lanark, saw just over 100 shearling and ram lambs change hands.

Top price was £3800 paid for a son of the £52,000 Crossflatt sold last year, from John Murray, Crossflatt, Muirkirk, who retained a share of the sire. He sold jointly to Garpel Farms, and Sanny Blackwood, Greenside, both Muirkirk.

Second top was £2200 paid for a lamb from Paul Coulson, High Staward, Hexham, purchased by Evistones Farms, Otterburn. He is by a £50,000 Crossflatt.

And, at £1900, Hugh and Alan Blackwood, Auldhouseburn, Muirkirk, sold their best, a son of the £85,000 Elmscleugh lamb bought last year, to John Pirie, Laight Park, Milngavie, Glasgow.
