A new breed record of 2500gns was achieved at the Fantastic Fifty sale of Southdown females from the Brant and Chaileybrook flocks of Sid Cook and Jonathan Long, respectively, when a gimmer sold for 2500gns.
The sale, staged at Newark Auction Mart, was led by an entry by Sarkozy, from Jonathan Long's Chaileybrook flock, from Bishops Frome, Herefordshire. Reserve inter-breed at Tenbury, she sold in lamb to Poillot 40036, to Tom Sinden, Brenzett Green, Kent.
Second price at 800gns was another Chaileybrook gimmer, this time by a home-bred ram. She sold due to another home-bred sire, to Megan Chilcott, East Huntspill, Somerset.
