MORE than 600 prime lambs were forward at North West Auctions' Christmas show and sale at Lancaster on Monday, where a buoyant trade and large ringside of buyers ensured a good sale throughout to average 172p per kg.
Both the champion and reserve awards went to GR and A Foy and Son from Parkside Farm, selected by judge, David Stamper, Chopping.
The Foys also topped the day's trade with Dutch Texel prime lambs which saw the champion pen sell for £100, while the reserve made £103.
Champion in the Christmas prime beef show went to P and A Bell, Village Farm, with a British Blue which made 204.5p to CJ Bowkers Butchers, Bolton-le-Sands.
Outwith the show, a smaller entry of cast ewes and rams met a decent trade, reaching £150 for Texel tups from S Wilson and Son, Burrow Heights, while ewes topped at £93 from GA Haston and Son, Lane House.
