Average: 73 gimmers £678.33; 11 ewes £395.18; five ewe lambs £283.50.

Robert Bennett’s Plasucha flock from Uper Hall, Meifod, led the trade at the Shropshire and Borders Texel Club sale of in-lamb females, with a 4500gns bid.

Attracting this lead price was an ET daughter of the home-bred Plasucha Wiz Kid, bred from a Garngour Upperclass daughter that goes back to a Teiglum ewe by Tamnamoney Lynbrook. She sold in lamb to Brackenridge Young Gun to young Aberdeenshire breeder, Michael Mennie, Forglen, Turriff.

Next best at 3800gns was one from Robert Pierce’s Oldford flock, from Pulford, Chester. Another ET, this time bred from a Sportsmans Tremendous II daughter that goes back to Garngour Maestro, and sired by Hexel Wildcard, she sold due to Gyhros Andy, to Charlie Boden, Stockport, Cheshire.

Mr Pierce enjoyed a particularly good sale, selling the next four highest priced lots at 2500gns, 1800gns and 1000gns twice. Dearest was a similarly bred gimmer that goes back to Tophill Joe. She sold having been served by Eden Valley A1, to Robert Evans, buying for Minsterley, for the Hope Valley flock.

Her full ET sister also in lamb to A1, then made 1800gns selling to A Keddwell, Priddy, Somerset.

Gordon and David Gray who run the Ettrick flock at Selkirk, bought the 1000gns Oldford gimmer. She is by Eden Valley Warrior King, out of a dam by Mullan Supremacy and sold in lamb to Eden Valley A1.

Also at this price was a triplet-born daughter of Sportsmans Tremendous II, out of a Humeston Outback daughter and goes back to Knock Idaho. She sold due to Gyrhos Andy and was bought by Messrs Jones, Arbennig, Welshpool.
