Beltex lambs from M Batty and Z Hall, Pirntaton, Galashiels, took the top spot at C and D Auction Marts' Christmas show and sale at Longtown, judged by Jack Iveson.

The lambs went on to top the sale at £250 per head or 510p per kg selling to West Scottish Lamb Ltd, Carlisle, who also bought the reserve winners at £220 – continental lambs from Messrs Moralee, Hardriding, Bardon Mill.

A Limousin cow from Messrs Baxter, Moss Side, Longtown, won the cast cattle championship and sold for £1565. The top price was £1755 or 273p paid for a Simmental from Dempster Barguillean Partnership, Robmar, Argyll.
