Callum Dodd’s Hazelberry Dutch Spotted flock from Pearsbyhall, Tundergarth, Lockerbie, secured the lead price of 3000gns, at the Trilogy sale at Borderway Mart, Carlisle, when selling the 2021-born ewe, Hazelberry Ellis.

The sale of pedigree Dutch Spotted females was originally supposed to include entries from three flocks, but due to the restrictions regarding export, the consignment from Richardson’s Cleenagh flock will be sold through Ballymena Mart.

Planning to make this a regular sale with the help from brother, Ali, this year's sale leader, Hazelberry Ellis, a daughter of Westbroad B Explorer II, is out of Damson Cartmel that last year bred lambs to 3000gns. She sold scanned for triplets to the 9000gns Diamond Freaky Freddie, to Ilona Thompson and Darren Mattia, Halstock, Somerset.

Welsh breeder, Robbie Alman-Wilson, Llandrindod Wells, gave 2200gns for the gimmer, Hazelberry Fancy Pants, a daughter of Drumhirk Decider out of the imported dam, Bali. She changed hands due with a pair of lambs to Beili Gilbert.

Next at 1200gns was Hazelberry Elsa purchased by Messrs Kemp, Stoneraise, Durdar, Carlisle. Sired by Westbroad Daley, this ewe is bred from the imported dam, Angie, and sold in lamb to Diamond Freaky Freddie, carrying a pair.

The second consignment, from Ali Jackson’s Tiptop flock from Annan, sold to 2200gns for the gimmer, Tiptop Fine N Dandy. A daughter of Tiptop Ed, she is bred from the imported ewe, Bellino, and sold carrying a pair to Craigdoo Gambler. Messrs Ghiorghita, Brookhill Farm, Wilby, were the final bidders.

At 1600gns, Tiptop Gaara, a ewe lamb found a new home at Middlemoor Farm, Hudswell, Richmond. Backed by imported genetics she is by Dutchman and bred from Ditte.

Tiptop Felise, a gimmer made 1500gns when selling to Messrs Hughes, Bethel, Bodorgan, Gwynedd. She is by the Ed tup, bred from Tiptop Diana, and sold scanned a single to Craigdoo Gambler.

Balfour Baillie, Tankerness, Orkney, also gave 1500gns for the ewe lamb, Tiptop Glitter – a daughter of Tiptop Ferar bred from Coxhill Flamingo.
