Intock gimmer topped Border Leicester sale at Carlisle

Their in-lamb gimmer from the Intock flock now based at Stow, Galashiels, is a daughter of the Lanark purchase, Knockglass Mr Dandy, and out of a home-bred ewe that goes back to Didcot Diamond. She changed hands and scanned a pair to the 3000gns Drennans Big Mac. She sold to Messrs Stewart, Blackford, Perthshire.

The same home received 1100gns for another gimmer from Messrs Watson, Holmrook, Cumbria. Her pedigree features the sire Didcot Diamond onto an Eildon Rob Roy daughter and she carrying a pair to Westforth TT, which was reserve ram at Lanark in 2021.

The same buyer also gave 1300gns for the third placed ewe hogg from John Barrowman, North Knockglass, Stranraer. This one is by Westforth Walk On, while the dam is one of the most consistent breeders in the flock having produced ram lambs to £2000.

Champion Border Leicester made 1800gns for Sandy and Alex Watson

The top price from Neil Howie, Lyham flock, North Lyham, Chatton, Alnwick, was 1200gns, paid for a gimmer by Knockglass Spitfire – the reserve male champion at last year’s Royal Highland Show. She is out of a home-bred ewe by Lammermuir Moonshine and sold carrying a pair of lambs to Slatehill Ur The 1, to Messrs Dyson, Morpeth, Northumberland.

Next at 1100gns was a gimmer from Ellie Stokeld, Doulton, Acklam, North Yorkshire, which sold in-lamb to Spotsmains Diamond – last year’s pre-sale champion at the breed sale at Lanark. She was knocked down to Messrs Grant, Kilrenny, Fife.
