An online sale of the entire crop of February lambing ewes from Northern Ireland Texel breeder, Gary Beacom’s Lakeview flock, sold to a top of £2200.

The sale of recipient ewes, staged due to unforeseen circumstances was led by a Suffolk cross scanned pair with the resultant lambs being sired by the 32,000gns Hexel Fan Club and bred from a gimmer by a 15,000gns Milnbank. Jonny Cubitt, Ballymena, Co Antrim, Northern Ireland, was the final bidder.

Mr Cubitt also gave £1900 for a Suffolk cross recipient ewe scanned a pair of Texek lambs with the same breeding.

The sale, conducted by Harrison and Hetherington, saw the first lot in the catalogue make £1700 to Messrs Wilkinson, Cookstown, Co Tyrone. This Suffolk cross recipient is carrying twin lambs bred from Plasucha’s show gimmer in 2019 purchased at the Royal Highland Show, and sired by the 12,000gns Okehall Golden Balls.

Messrs Glendinning, Tobermore, Co Londonderry, went to the same money for a Suffolk cross recipient carrying a single lamb sired by Fan Club, while the dam was purchased from the Garngour flock for 6500gns.
