A BLUEFACED Leicester in-lamb gimmer from Martyn Archer, Carry House, Hexham, topped the Diamond Delights multi-breed sale of pedigree sheep at J36, Kendal, when selling for the lead price of 5000gns.

Backed by home-bred genetics, the gimmer is sired by Carry House 281/N056 and bred from Carry House 281/L051. She sold carrying a single lamb to Carry House Ronaldo 281/P001 to GP Taylor, Swathburn, Asby, Appleby, Cumbria.

The reserve champion was a ewe hogg from Messrs Lord, Hewgill. She is the result of a mating between the sire Marriforth 746/P001 and a home-bred dam. Shaun Procter, Villa Farm, Great Musgrave, Kirkby Stephen, was the final bidder.

Finlay Robertson of the Beeches flock, West Calder, gave 3500gns for a Midlock gimmer from the Wight family, Midlock, Crawford. A Marriforth N024 daughter, she is out of a home-bred ewe and sold scanned with triplets to Underwood 1982/P001.

Dutch Spotted sheep sold to 1350gns for the first prize gimmer, Bank Hall Flame from John Morton, Penrith. Sired by Westbroad B Explorer, she is bred from an imported ewe and sold due with a pair to Mount Pleasant Garth. She now travels to Sussex with D Barr, Belmont, Leves.

The reserve champion in the Rough Fells topped the section at 1000gns. This was the first prize gimmer, a daughter of Birkhaw Emerald from TLB and J Knowles, High Borrow Bridge.

She is bred from a Brownber Unimog daughter and sold scanned scanned with triplets to Cotegill Golden Balls. The buyers were EJ and LE Williams, Higher Hay Lee, Combs, High Peak.

The top price among the Swaledales was £700 paid for the pre-sale champion, a one-crop ewe from Thomas Brogden, Helbeck, Brough. She is sired by Kisdon Odyssey, out of a Brownber Polo sired-ewe, and sold carrying twins to Helbeck Unique to EW and JR Parkinson, Hareden, Dunsop bridge, Clitheroe, Lancs.

In-lamb Cheviot gimmers peaked at 450gns on three occasions, all for entries from KO Stones, Nun Cote Nook.
