WELL over 200 international delegates have signed up to the World Angus Forum, which is being staged in Scotland from Friday, June 16 to Tuesday July 2, and will incorporate a tour south of the Border.

Speaking after the annual general meeting of the Aberdeen-Angus Cattle Society at Stirling Agricultural Centre, last weekend, chief executive Johnny Mackey said at least 40 delegates from Australia, 20 from New Zealand, 60 from Canada, 20 from North America, 15 from Germany and others from Mexico, Uruguay to name but a few had signed up for the event which is being hosted in the UK for the first time in 40 years.

The AGM also saw the appointment of new office bearers, with Alex Sanger taking on the top job as president from out-going president, Tom Arnott from Haymount, Kelso.

Mr Sanger, from Rosemount Farms, Prettycur, Montrose, moved up the rankings from senior vice-president with junior vice president, Angela McGregor, from Auchinhuive, Whiterashes, Aberdeen, duly elected to take on the new senior vice president role.

New junior vice-president is Irish breeder, John Tait, Rostellan, Middleton, Co Cork. Four new council members were also elected to include David Ismail, Fordel, Glenfarg; Johnny Elliot, Roxburgh Mains, Kelso; Andrew Shufflebotham, Heathfield, Nantwich, Cheshire and Oliver Edwards, Wester Mill, Exmoor, Devon.
