Pedigree British Simmental cattle have been exported all over Europe in recent years, but the largest ever consignment has just left for the Azores – an autonomous region west of Portugal, comprising nine volcanic islands in the North Atlantic Ocean.
In all, some 13 heifers and three bulls are being transported through Andrew and Aileen Ewing’s ever expanding continental haulage company at Dumbretton, Annan.
It includes consignments from Lindsay and Dorothy Moffat’s Innerwick herd, at Dunbar, East Lothian; cattle from Richard McCulloch’s Overhill House herd, at Armadale, West Lothian, managed by John Hughes; and cattle from QMS chief, Jim McLaren’s herd, managed by Tom Henderson.
