GROUP AIMS FOR TOPNOTCH GRAIN FACILITY
Farmers in the driving seat of the business
A group of farmers has unveiled ambitious plans to build a modern grain processing centre in Scotland, following claims that many farmer-owned and third party stores in Angus are failing local users and maltsters.
The Angus Cereal Partnership plans to build and operate a state-of-the-art 90,000 tonne capacity facility adjacent to the Greencore Maltings, at Glenesk. Modelled on existing storage partnerships supported by Grainfarmers across the UK, including Aberdeen Grain and Camgrain, the farmer shareholders of the partnership will own the store, and the business will be run purely for their benefit.
