SOIL ASSOCIATION Scotland is running a woodland management, woodfuel and biomass event for farmers and landowners on Wednesday February 22, in and around Aboyne, Aberdeenshire.

This practical afternoon will look at the benefits of woodland management and woodfuel supply, and discuss the legal, sustainability and reporting requirements for sourcing biomass raw materials for use in RHI boilers, and the requirements of the Biomass Suppliers List for self supply and selling to others.

The event will also provide an opportunity to find out about reporting on non woody biomass raw materials and fuels with the new Sustainable Fuels Register (SFR). Also included is a visit to the Glen Tanar Estate.

Speakers include Forestry Commission Scotland's Ian Cowe, independent woodfuel specialist Amanda Calvert, and Jon Swain of the Sustainable Fuels Register.
