At Area 19 show jumping at Ingliston in July, Galloway Branch had two teams qualify to compete at the next levels.

Firstly, the regional team of Mairi Fisher, Carolyn Fisher, Lucy Gaw and Susannah Service qualified to go to the Northern stage at the Ian Stark Equestrian Centre near Selkirk in early August.

With holidays and work commitments it was Quinn Jolly, Carolyn Fisher and Becky Dalrymple who competed on the day against clubs from all over Scotland, Northern Ireland and Northern England. The team was not placed.

On August 19,the qualifying novice team of Isla Forsyth, Mollie and Izzy Miller-Smith, and Charlotte Service made the longer trip to Cholmondeley Castle in Cheshire for the National Pony Club Championships against clubs from all over the UK.

They jumped over two different courses on grass and the weather was somewhat unkind with wind and rain to contend with.

All four combinations had a very good try and represented Galloway very well at such a prestigious event.

Recently members Mollie and Becky called in at Newton Stewart’s Riverside Day Centre to present a cheque for £40 raised by the fun dog show at the clubs’s Open Show at Bladnoch Park earlier this year.
