AN APPEAL is being made for volunteers to help with the running of the Breadalbane and District branch of Riding for the Disabled – which celebrated its 25th anniversary last year.

With no indoor facilities, the group does not ride during the winter months and so plans are well in hand for 2018, including organising a training day at Knockdarroch, on April 16 and the group starts riding a week later.

"We are finalising riders from three schools and the ponies which have been kindly lent to us. We have two new volunteers – making a total of 14 – and hopefully one is applying to train as a coach," pointed out volunteer, Jennifer Valentine, who added: "It would be wonderful to find another trainee so that they could go forward together."

The plan is to raise the branch's profile at a number of fund-raising events in the area. "We are a happy band, but we are a small group and the endless paperwork is burdensome! We would like to find someone who could help with this," said Jennifer.
