"It was a super mover and beautifully produced, very elegant," said the judge, John Conifey.

Reserve supreme was Russell Skelton's in-hand hunter champion Kings Speech. Last year the three-year-old was second in the Cuddy at HOYS, and has recently been purchased by Freda Newton, from Inverness, to come out under saddle next season.

The second day supreme was won by Kirstine Douglas riding the HOYS cob champion, Barneebus.

Cob judge, Faye Preston-Smith, said: "It was a real proper cob that really sat up and said 'look at me'. It did an immaculate show and a fantastic gallop - that's what clinched it for me."

Reserve supreme was Richard Telford with Bill Ireland's Kilmannan Robert the Bruce. The eight-year-old home-bred Dales stallion qualified for both HOYS and Olympia last year.

North Highland College lecturer James Munro won the riding horse championship with Bodette, which was previously a brood-mare in Holland. The seven-year-old by Welt Hit won the small RIHS qualifer and the novice class.

Reserve was Lindsay McCulloch, with Opium Cassanova, after being placed second in the novice and small classes. The 10-year-old is by the Thoroughbred sire Full Extent and was bred in Co Clare.

Stuart Ashton won the heavyweight cob qualifier and was reserve with De Monkey Business.

The heavy rain on Sunday morning meant many riders did not come forward for the working hunter classes. Kirsty Aird and her own Coilte Nescro, a nine-year-old Irish-bred gelding by Ricardo Z, won the open class and the qualifier. Kirsty first competed the gelding three years ago for an owner, but after buying him has been busy with owners horses and he's been out in the field for the past two years.

Kirstine Douglas won the BSPA championship with Shirley Moro's Playstation.

"It had forward going, ground covering paces and a leg at each corner," said judge Emma Green of the six-year-old traditional gelding.

Reserve was Holly Stewart with the plaited pony Millpond Look At Me.

Due to the weather conditions the mountain and moorland ponies were moved inside. In-hand champion was Eleanor Crate's broodmare Brynoffa Savannah, a Welsh section B mare shown with a month-old chestnut filly foal at foot by Skellorn Graffiti. Savannah, by Linksbury Celebration was bred by Kevin Walker and was hunter pony champion at Ponies UK Summer Championships and show hunter pony champion at NPS Malvern last season.

Reserve was Gillian McNinch's Welsh section C Washingpool Olwen, a six-year-old that is a full brother to Emyrs that Gillian also shows. She was purchased as a foal at the cob sales and will come out in novice ridden classes this season.

Ridden reserve champion was Lynn Paisley riding the Highland Jura of Meggernie. Mini ridden champion was Megan Graham and Grugar Skylark, which was supreme at the Scottish All Welsh show and second at NPS Malvern and the Scottish Horse Show.
