Snow did not put off competitors who made their way to the Cabin for the second in the arena event series.

In the OI and novice sections Douglas Edward and Impudent Echo came out on top ahead of Emma Murray and Clonbrook Misty. Douglas bought the eight-year- old son of Clover Echo from Goresbridge sales in Ireland as a four-year-old.

Douglas reflected: "He has been quite tricky at times, but I am hoping he will move up to intermediate this year. Les Smith built his usual good training course, which is ideal to get the horses going for the coming season. A huge 'well done!' to both Les and the Cabin for taking the decision to run when there was snow on the ground!" This combination will start off the season novice at Kirriemuir.

Runner up in both OI and novice was Emma Murray who has owned Clonbrook Misty for five years. The Irish TB mare will also start her season at Kirriemuir with a CCI* the aim later in the year.

Alan Spalding's groom, Kirsty Alexander, had a double win in the intro and pre-novice sections with Pegase Champiex and Duvel. Duvel, the five-year-old daughter of Vaillant, was bought by Alan as an unbroken three-year-old and was left to mature last year.

Runner up was Gillian Carnegie and Winter Solstice. The eight-year-old daughter of Tyson was bought by Gillian as a four-year-old.

Kirsty then rode Marie Graham's 10-year-old Pegase Champiex to win the intro.

Runner up was Kayleigh Spalding on her father Alan's eye-catching Dolus. This talented five-year-old was bought from Holland unbroken last year. Kayleigh is hoping to qualify Dolus for newcomers second rounds and the five-year-old classes this year.

Tweleve-year-old Rebecca Harman Johnston had a double in the 80cms class with Pick And Mix and Pure Chance respectively.

Rebecca's mother Jennifer commented: "Pick And Mix has not been with us long and she is an out and out jumping machine. We have had Chance for over a year now and they do a bit of everything together."
