GREAT BRITIAN won team silver and individual bronze at the CIC** European Championship at Laintal in Austria.

Comprising of riders from British Riding Clubs, the competition began with a group dressage test where all six team members performed together. The result in this phase of the competition was considered to be the best that a British CIC** team had ever achieved, scoring a 80%.

The team test was followed by individual tests and by the time the dressage element was completed, Team GBR was in second place. The riders put in excellent cross-country rounds and a good performance in the final showjumping test to ensure that they remained in second position to secure the team silver medal.

Team manager Peter Buist commented: "It was amazing to come home with a team silver and individual bronze from Katy Hurst and Weston IV. Credit should go to the grooms, vet Robert Oulton and physio Megan Rees for turning out the horses so well and to BHS registered instructors Richard Waygood and Jonathan Chapman for their training and support."

The team comprised:

Ros Canter and Emill from North Lincs RC

Mary-Anne Carpenter and Alles Klar from Oxford RC

Amy Crerar and Fernhill Rock Star from Thames Valley RC (Individual 7th)

Katy Hurst and Weston IV from North Lincs RC (Individual bronze medallist)

Kylie Roddy and Shearwater Billy from High Wycombe RC (Individual 16th)

Caroline Smith and Para Ti from Deben RC

The following rode as individuals:

Sophie Brown and Wil from North Lincs RC

Casey Parker and Chataigne Filice from Carleton RC

The team gold medal was won by Germany, and German rider Frederike Tophoff-Kaup and Lady You TSF took the Individual title.
