HAWICK handler Iain Jardine celebrated his birthday on July 21 with a winner, and continued in unbeatable form in July.

The former jockey, who trains at Gatehousecote on the outskirts of Bonchester Bridge, saddled Wor Lass to win the concluding apprentice handicap.

The mare is home-bred by Hawick owner Les Dodds, who was thrilled with the success.

Having missed the Dublin ferry Irish jockey Luke Leadbitter had to divert to Belfast, but his fraught journey was rewarded when Wor Lass justified favouritism to score by three-quarters of a length.

The Jardine stable had also proved successful three days earlier when Nakeeta - having just a second start for the yard - claimed the 1m 2f handicap at Pontefract.

The yard continued its victory trail at Musselburgh on July 22, where La Bacouetteuse retained his 2013 title to land the two-mile handicap.

"The track suits him," said Iain. "We may give him another run over hurdles," he added.

Jardine added to his winning streak at Newcastle on July 26 when 10-1 chance Silver Tigress nailed the long-time leader to land the concluding apprentice handicap.

The in-form trainer also saddled the second-placed Taxiformissbyron.

Two days later, he was back in the winner's enclosure when Push Me landed the one-mile handicap at Ayr on July 28.

"She's a tough mare and the strong gallop suited her," said Iain.

The win provided former Grand National winning jockey Graham Lee - now showing equal prowess on the Flat - with the second leg of a double.

Lee had earlier partnered the Jim Goldie-trained Thorntoun Care to win the 1m 5f handicap.

"She stays and should make a jumper," said the Glasgow handler of his three-year-old.

Champion apprentice Jason Hart completed a double at the meeting.

The Hawick jockey rode Fredericka to win the five-furlong handicap, and added the opening division of the seven-furlong equivalent on The Dukkerer.

Irvine jockey Danny Tudope is also on a roll, and he added to his tally at York the same afternoon when Kleo won the opening 1m 2f fillies stakes.

He completed a double at Thirsk the previous afternoon, aboard Supreme Occasion and Mr Mcraire, and scored a treble when riding Anderiego to head the one-mile handicap at York.

Keith Dalgleish was also in winning form at Thirsk, saddling Grey Zeb to win the five-furlong maiden stakes.

Over five days, Tudhope and fellow jockeys Wilson Renwick both celebrated three winners.

On the Flat, Tudope rode Innocently to win the five-furlong handicap at Catterick on July 16.

Two days later, at Haydock, the Irvine jockey landed the 1m 2f handicap at Haydock on New Storey, and enjoyed his third success when 100,000gns purchase Glenalmond headed the six-furlong maiden stakes at Ayr on July 21.

Over the jumps, Renwick rode Welsh Bard to win the novice handicap chase at Market Rasen on July 20.

The Hawick jockey completed a double the following afternoon, riding Mr Satco to land the beginners chase, and Teenage Dream to take the two-mile handicap chase.

Carluke trainer Keith Dalgleish also saddled two winners that week.

Incurs Four Faults "showed good attitude" according to Dalgleish, to win the 1m 1f handicap at Hamilton on July 17.

He saddled a further winner at Ayr on July 21 when Porthos Du Vallon picked up well from off to pace to land the one-mile handicap.

East Kilbride trainer Linda Perratt also had a winner at the meeting when Bunce appreciated the strong pace to head the five-furlong handicap.

East Lothian jockey Mikey Ennis rode Light from Mars to take the six-furlong handicap at Newmarket on July 18, and was back in the winner's enclosure at Market Rasen two days later when Purple Bay won the two-mile hurdle race.

On July 22, Wilson Renwick rode Degooch to win the novice chase at Bangor for St Boswells owners Paul and Clare Rooney.

The same afternoon at Carlisle, Keith Dalgleish saddled Jacob Black to take the one-mile handicap, while Hawick trainer Alistair Whillans accounted for the seven-furlong fillies handicap with Alexandrakollontai.

Jim Goldie and Danny Tudhope proved a winning combination at Doncaster on July 24, where Nanton won the 1m 6f handicap.

The winner, who still holds the one-mile record at Redcar, was posting a third course success.

Keith Dalgleish's yard is in cracking form and the Belstane stable made it eight winners in two weeks with a 164-1 treble at Carlisle on July 27.

Nursery victor Just The Tip set the ball rolling.

"She was too keen over six furlong last time, so we dropped her back in trip," explained Keith.

Corton Lad, who "likes to make the running" accounted for the 1m 3f handicap, before Archie's Advice completed the hattrick.

"I thought the longer trip would suit," said Keith. "He's still green, but should improve," he added.
