LANGHOLM jockey, Jamie Gormley, rode his first turf winner when partnering the Iain Jardine-trained Fingal’s Cave to a 3-1 success at Catterick, on April 12.

The 7lbs claimer had also ridden the five-year-old to his previous win at Newcastle. Their victory in the seven-furlong claimer marked the gelding’s sixth career win at that distance.

“He was down in grade,” said the winning Carrutherstown trainer. “The favourite had good form, but ours is a decent horse.”

There was a further first for stable lass, Hannah Crawford, from Denholm, who was making her debut leading up a winning one.

Irvine jockey, Danny Tudhope took the opener, riding Wishing Time to head the five-furlong handicap.

Then two Hawick jockeys rode winners at Wetherby, on April 13.

Craig Nichol won the two-mile handicap chase aboard 11-1 chance Honourable Gent for Alnwick trainer Rose Dobbin, while Jamie Hamilton posted an 8-1 win in the three-mile handicap hurdle race, riding Bankhall.

“He was fit after his break and he did that well, but no doubt he’ll go up in the handicap,” said the trainer’s husband, Tony Dobbin, after Honourable Gent’s impressive success.

At Towcester, the same afternoon, Scottish jockey Henry Morshead rode Shakira to head the mares' maiden hurdle race.

Carluke handler, Keith Dalgeish, saddled Cheeseandpickle to win the five-furlong fillies stakes on the all-weather at Newcastle, on April 14, and was quickly back in the winner’s enclosure when What’s The Story landed the seven-furlong maiden stakes at Musselburgh the following afternoon.

Over the jumps at Carlisle, Hawick jockey, Blair Campbell, rode the Lucinda Russell-trained Catchthemoonlight to win the mares' handicap hurdle race.

The success marked the 600th career victory for the Milnathort-based Grand National-winning trainer.

Jedburgh jockey, Callum Bewley, won the three-mile handicap hurdle race on Total Assets. The 4-1 chance is trained in Northumberland by Simon Waugh.

Alnwick-based trainer, Rose Dobbin, won the three-mile handicap chase with Smuggler’s Stash.

Hawick jockey, Jason Hart, also rode a winner at Pontefract on April 11, partnering Acadian Angel to a 10-1 victory in the fillies’ stakes.
