SCOTLAND’S point-to-point season will soon be drawing to a close, but before it does there’s a chance to take it all in at the Fife point-to-point, held at Balcormo Mains, near Lundin Links, on Saturday, April 29.

The annual event offers more than just horse racing, as the The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards will have a stand with some equipment on show and the drum horse, Talavera, will be parading throughout the day. There will also be a bouncy castle and fun fair, trade stands, rodeo bull, classic car display and face painting to keep everyone entertained.

For followers of racing, Grand National winning jockey, Derek Fox, will be taking the pony races round the course and One For Arthur, the winning horse trained by local lass, Lucinda Russell, will be parading.

Gates open at 11am before the pony races for aspiring jockeys aged nine to 15 get started at 1pm. The senior brigade races follow on at 2pm, with five run over the usual 3¼-mile course as well as, for the first time, a 2½-mile race.

The races offer one of the best hauls of prize money in Scotland – £3200 in total – and there is a further £2000 bonus for the winner of the Bruce Farms race which goes on to win the Bruce Farms Hunter Chase at Perth, next month.

Those heading to the meet can fill a car and pay £75 for premium parking, or pay £10 per person which includes a racecard. Children under 15 go free.
