THIS YEAR’S winner of the Clydesdale supreme championship and Prince of Wales trophy at the National Stallion Show was Malcolm McFadyen of Campbeltown, with his two-year-old filly, Carnaff Lady Lucinda.

The show, held at Stirling Agricultural Centre, saw a record number of spectators from all over the world watch eight hours of judging.

The supreme champion was taking the top plaudits at the show for the second year running.

The prestigious Cawdor Cup was this year awarded to Ian Young's Arradoul Balvenie, from Wellheads Farm, Buckie.

Taking the gelding championship for the fourth year running was 12-year-old Lyndsay Adamson of Glenside Farm, Stirling. Her champion this year was West Plean Bruno, who has now been champion for Lyndsay for the past three years.

Supreme in the Highland pony line-up was Burnside Victoria from Alistair Munro, Greenfaulds Road, Cumbernauld, while Lucy Poett of House of Mailer, Perth, took the supreme award in the Shetland pony section for the second year running. Raith-hill Stud took both champion and reserve honours in the mountain and moorland section. Their champion was Waitwith Gold-dust, a three-year-old Welsh Section A stallion.
