ONCE again Fraser Reed has been hitting the headlines, this time for riding the only treble clear in the Winter JA Qualifier at the 148cms Premier held at Bury Farm in Bedfordshire.

Fraser has already qualified his 16-year-old mare Quilitymaes Z, for this class so had nothing to lose going into the third and final round.

His time may have been a second slower than the other three through to the jump off, but he left the fences standing and took the honours, as well as the £150 prize money.

Shaunie Greig would’ve been happy with her fifth place after a four fault second round with Moonlight Flight. This was good enough to see them qualify for the final.

Sandy McLean was also in the money as we have come to expect with this determined young man from Edinburgh.

The lovely Connemara Tobar King stood at the top of the line in the Blue Chip Sparkle JC qualifier and also finished just outside the money in seventh in a JA qualifier.

Not very many Scots travelled to Arena UK for the Small Pony Premier where the Archibald family from Dumfries gained some valuable mileage.

Warming up with a double clear in the Graham Heath handicap, Philippa then rode a cracking round in the winter 138cms with the fabulous Mitchel Troy Welsh Express to improve by day two just having one pole down – not bad for a partnership that has only been together since November last year.

A lot further north and The Cabin EC hosted a junior show with a few riders in top form throughout.

The Hamilton family came out in force from their Tillyoch base to do their usual and take home a handful of red ones.

Natasha Hamilton was in form in the Graham Heaths with her three ponies all featuring, Aristo Justice, Lennon Prince and Mr JK.

Older sister Charley is always speedy against the clock so it was no surprise to see her take a win or two with Kayem Fridays Dance and Taraco Emerald.

Racheal Davidson is a very versatile rider being seen often and successfully in the working hunter arena with her lovely little bay Yogi Bear. He showed he was just as useful over the coloured poles by winning the British Novice and getting a second in the discovery.

The seven-year-old Irish-bred Drumkeeragh Abbey Rose has only been with Racheal since the autumn yet this lovely grey mare is already jumping double clears finishing in the money in several classes.
