SCOTLAND'S NEWEST abattoir has been given the go-ahead to start its killing line on August 28, writes.

The Islay abattoir, at Avonvogie, near Ballygrant, has been given the green light by building control and enviromental health officials to begin on that date. The driving force behind the project, Chloe Randall - factor for Dunlossit Estate - said that it had been a long, hard slog to get the abattoir to this point.
