KEEN home cooks will be able to get their hands on the new Aldi Kitchen Notebook of recipes, as published in The Scottish Farmer.

Our readers, the stores' shoppers and celebrity chefs from across Scotland have contributed recipes to this fantastic recipe book to raise money for the Royal Highland Education Trust.

Aldi had asked readers of The Scottish Farmer and Aldi’s 110,000 Facebook fans in Scotland to contribute ideas for the limited edition book.

Recipes featured in the book include asparagus and sweet potato soup from Violet, in Perth; chicken paprika, from Louisa, in Inverurie; and a Spanish lentil soup with chorizo, suggested by Andrew, from Paisley.

In addition, the book features a gingerbread loaf cake created by Fergus Ewing MSP, spring lamb from Mark Greenaway and the ultimate Scotch sirloin steaks from Masterchef winner, Gary MacLean.

Graham Nicolson, group buying director for Aldi in Scotland, said: “We’ve received some delicious recipe ideas from shoppers across Scotland, all of which highlight incredible homegrown Scottish ingredients.

"We’d like to thank the shoppers and chefs who submitted recipes for the Kitchen Notebook, and we look forward to raising plenty of funds for the RHET when the book goes on sale.”

Fergus Ewing added: “Aldi’s Kitchen Notebook charity recipe book contains some fantastic recipes that showcase the breadth of Scotland’s larder. I would encourage everyone to buy a copy as proceeds go to the very worthy Royal Highland Education Trust that helps to educate young people about our agricultural sector.”

He will be launching the book in Aldi’s marquee at the Royal Highland Show, on Thursday, June 22, at 10am.
