A FARMER’S daughter is set to shine in the Dumfries and Galloway Arts Festival in a concert charting the story of Sir Walter Scott in both music and opera.
To be held on Saturday, May 26, at the Theatre Royal, in Dumfries, the evening will record how Sir Walter Scott’s poetry and novels had a profound influence on music throughout the 19th and 20th centuries.
Featuring a cast of rising stars from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, put together by local farmer’s daughter and well-known soprano, Claudia Wood and pianist, Conal Bembridge-Sayers, it takes the audience through some of the most intriguing and entertaining music to be inspired by the great writer’s works, including dramatic and romantic sounds by Bizet, Rossini and Berlioz.
