MILK CO-OPS First Milk and Milk Link chalked up major awards at the Nantwich International Cheese Show – the ‘world cup’ of cheese shows, attracting over 3200 cheeses worldwide.

First Milk’s Mull of Kintyre cheddar was crowned the best Scottish cheese. It is made at the co-op’s Campbeltown Creamery using 100% Scottish milk supplied by the 41 farmers on the Kintyre peninsula and the Isle of Gigha.

Creamery manager Chris Wareham, said: “We are absolutely delighted that our Mull of Kintyre cheddar is officially the best Scottish cheese. We always knew we made the best cheese in Scotland and now it’s official. The 29 employees at the creamery are very proud of our cheese and this accolade is testament to the supreme quality of our cheddar and milk supply.”

Milk Link creameries colected no fewer than 48 individual awards at the show, including 21 golds. It took the UK supreme champion cheese with Red Leicester from the co-op’s Taw Valley creamery in Devon.
