Kirklees butcher J Brindon Addy, the reigning national Meat Buyer of the Year in the annual Pig and Poultry Marketing Awards, is inviting consumers to submit their favourite holiday recipes in the run-up to 2010 National Butchers’ Week.

Patrons of the Hade Edge, Holmfirth, shop often tell of unusual recipes discovered on their travels – for example, chicken stuffed with haggis (Scotland), stuffed pigs foot (Italy) and roasted marrow bone (France).

Brindon Addy wants people to send in their weird and wonderful recipe discoveries from either at home or abroad.

The best of them – availability of product and ingredients permitting! - will then be made up and sold over the counter during National Butchers Week, with the winner also to be rewarded £50 worth of Addy’s meat vouchers.

Entries can either be dropped in or posted to the shop at Flowery Fields, Hade Edge, Holmfirth HD9 2JG, or e-mailed to info@jbrindonaddy.co.uk

National Butchers Week runs from March 15-20 and is an annual event that encourages consumers to consider their local butcher as their first port of call for all their meat purchases and for their in-depth knowledge on everything from cooking times to menu suggestions.

During the week, Addy’s Butchers will be serving up free product tastings, including the shop’s award-winning sausages, pies and home-cured bacon, as well as running special offers.
