The children of p4 at Laurieknow Primary School in Dumfries have been very busy putting together a Wacky Wellies Fun Day.

Teacher, Tracy Connolly, said: “I am delighted at how hard they all worked. We raised £239.39 for both RSABI and Farm Africa. The event consisted of a presentation at the school assembly and running stalls. The whole school was invited to decorate and wear their own ‘wacky wellies’ and we held a parade so that those who took part could show them off. In the afternoon we had ‘Pin the Tail on the Donkey’, a ‘Turnip Shy’, ‘How many peas are in the jar?’ and a ‘Wheelbarrow Dash’.” The children spent last term studying farming, and through this topic and with the help of our local co-ordinator for the Royal Highland Education Trust, we visited the Crichton Royal Farm and had a farmer come and talk to us in class, which fired up their enthusiasm.
