Upping the steaks at Craigie’s!
THE NEW butchery counter at Craigie’s Farm Deli and Café is bucking recent trends and prospering whilst giving the food lovers of central Scotland the highest quality meat for their dinner tables.
Many parts of Scotland have witnessed the sad demise of many local high streets over the years as the ease of shopping in supermarkets has pushed a number of smaller retailers out of business. However, Craigie’s remains busy and so has decided to offer customers even more.
Launched in December, the new butchery counter, run by Steve Mitchell of S. Mitchell of Auchtertool - Farmer and Butcher, joins a number of other attractions at Craigie’s, including a full farm shop, café with delicious local produce, activities and things to see and do for children as well as local walks.
Steve Mitchell says: “As a farmer as well as a butcher, I’m passionate about the fact that people should be able to buy quality, traceable and tasty meat from the best Scottish farms.
“There are many benefits to introducing a butchery at Craigie’s. Customers can shop in a stress free environment, get excellent advice from our butchery staff and, just as importantly, take home superb meat at pocket friendly prices.
“Sausage lovers should come along on Sunday 14th February between 9.30am and midday because we’re doing a special sausage making workshop.
“And for those looking to stock up their freezer, I’m also happy to offer an introductory discount to those who are spending more than £25 at the butchery counter.”
John Sinclair who owns and runs Craigie’s says: “At Craigie’s we concentrate on trying to create an all round positive experience for our visitors when it comes to food and drink and the countryside.
“We are able to offer customers the chance to relax and admire the views over coffee or lunch in our café, buy gifts for friends or a treat for themselves in our farm shop and at the same time get some superb quality ingredients for their supper before they head home – and that’s where the new butchery comes in. Steve and his team are providing customers with the very best in Scottish meat.
“As well as enjoying all the food, visitors to Craigie’s can take a walk outside and see our chickens or follow one of our nature trails. We have a café specifically for dogs opening later in the spring so the entire family can enjoy a superb day out only a short drive from Edinburgh.”
NOTES TO EDITORS
The butchery at Craigie’s is happy to offer a discount of 10% on all purchases of over £25 of butcher meat. The offer is only valid during February and original newspaper copy (or reference to specific radio show) will be required.
