Marrying amongst the stars made possible as Space and Rock connects unique spaces with couples seeking something out of the ordinary.

Hailed as the ‘Airbnb of the wedding world,’ an online platform has launched with a mission to connect home, business and land owners with couples seeking a totally unique space for their wedding celebration. Following a successful campaign on the community funding platform Crowdfunder, Space & Rock is set to become the online destination for anyone looking to tie the knot somewhere out of the ordinary, be it an effortlessly cool vintage cinema, high up in a tree top escape or even in an astronomical observatory!

Visitors to the website will be able to browse hundreds of hidden-gem spaces up and down the country, searching by region, location type, capacity and facilities available. Search results will then include prices, imagery and a bio of both the spaces and the owners, to give an insight into the personalities and individuality of listings.

For spaces, a helpful FAQ will provide information and links to aid owners with the process of identifying a suitable event space, pricing it appropriately and applying for a Temporary Event Notice before marketing it to engaged couples on a slick and intuitive web platform. Once couples have found their perfect wedding location, they will be able to link up with local, recommended suppliers to ensure their day goes ahead without a glitch.

Uniting a community of likeminded, passionate and creative suppliers and couples, Space & Rock will not list spaces that are primarily a wedding venue, distancing the new platform from traditional wedding venue directories and replacing the descriptive ‘venue’ with ‘space.’ From hay barns to woodlands, crumbling castles to boathouses and caves to art galleries, there will be spaces to satisfy all tastes and budgets.

With sustainability at its very core, the service aims to be 100% carbon neutral and will employ a strong ethics code across every facet of the company. Diversification of income has become a hot topic for farmers, land and small business owners as well as occupants of country houses passed down through the family. Space & Rock offers them the opportunity to open their spaces for occasional private events, providing a financial lifeline for some and uncovering some of the country’s most wondrous and quirky locations that might otherwise never have been available to hire.

Behind the brand is founder Gemma Rawlinson, a veteran of the wedding industry and proprietor of vintage wedding hire business Box and Cox. Gemma said: “We believe a couple’s individuality should be rewarded with a totally unique wedding space and are excited to play a small part in their day. Likewise, we’re passionate about helping small business, home and land owners up and down the country to become more sustainable by realising a revenue stream that they previously might not have known existed.”

Space & Rock is now live with prices starting from £500. For more information and to contact the team, visit www.spaceandrock.co.uk. Facebook @SpaceandRock
