Overall winner of the East of Scotland Grassland Society silage competition was Robert Ferguson, East Camps, Dumferline, who first won the top award for the best bale silage.
Drew Wilson, Greenhead, came up trumps to win the award for the best pit silage in the beef section with previous winner, Jim Barr, Easter Bucklyvie, Cowdenbeath, leading the dairy pit silage entrants.
The trophy for the best whole-crop silage was presented Iain Wilkinson, Balgay Farming Partnership, Inchture, Dundee.
North of Scotland Silage winners
Pit silage – Winner – J Shand, Chapelford, Clochan, Buckie; runner-up, Roddy Catto, Hillhead of Muirton, Whitecairns, Aberdeen. Best new entrant – J McIntyre, Milton of Cullerlie, Echt.
Bale silage – Winner – Mrs Elizabeth Don, Freefield, Insch; runner-up – Roddy Catto. Best new entrant – GD Mitchell, Mains of Coburty, Roseharty.
