The best from a strong show of Blackfaces secured the show supreme spot at the 25th Muirkirk Show, held at Blackside Farm, last weekend.

Leading the way was the winner from the shepherds’ section, which beat the open champion to take the overall Blackie title, before topping the show. Shown by Stuart Paterson, Netherwood, Muirkirk, that was a one-crop ewe that won last year as a gimmer, by a £47,000 Dalchirla sire, out of a ewe by a £5000 Midlock.

Reserve supreme went to the beef champion, Lyonpark Fortitude, a seven-month-old pure British Blue bull calf from Jim Kennedy, Lyonston, Maybole. Sired by Gitan Du P’tit Mayeur, he was calf champion at Catrine and Coylton and is destined for the Agri Expo event Carlisle later in the year.
