Appin Show’s livestock section continued to punch above its weight again this year when it was held in glorious sunshine with the backdrop of Castle Stalker, Lismore and Moidart behind it.

Champion of champions was a two-crop Bluefaced Leicester ewe from Alan MacKellar, the Lismore ferry Skipper who keeps around 20 Blue ewes on the mainland side, having started his flock just three years ago. She was reserve female at the Highland Show.

In reserve was the cattle champion, the Highland section winner from Michael Poland, of West Ferlochan, Benderloch, and brought out by local farmer Willie MacLean. This was the two-year-old heifer, Ban Righ of Mottistone, which was champion at the Highland.

The biggest section of the day was the Blackface, won by James Henry Weir, of Invernahyle, who took the main prize with a ram lamb by a £1600 Dyke.
