The third annual spring show of Blackface sheep staged at Newton Stewart Auction Mart, attracted a bumper entry of 85 sheep.
The event, organised by the Dumfries and Galloway Branch of the Blackface Sheep Breeders Association, was won by a home-bred ewe from Graham and Colin McClymont’s Cuil flock from Palnure, Newton Stewart. She is by a £30,000 Pole and out of a ewe by a £1400 Cuil.
The judge, Allan Wight jnr, Midlock, found his reserve in a gimmer from the Kay family from Gass, Straiton, Ayrshire. This was the show female, Lady Ga Ga, by a £12,000 Glen Inerleithen sire.
