VISITORS TO AgriScot next month will be able to get a first glance at John Deere's range of mid-size 6R Series tractors.

There's four, four-cylinder and two large frame six-cylinder models in the range and all come with Stage IV engines from 110 to 155hp, replacing Stage IIIB compliant models from the end of this year.

These new full-frame tractors have better manoeuvrability, operator comfort, a wide range of transmissions and up to six SCVs, as well as a front hitch option.

Power comes from either 4.5-litre, four-cylinder John Deere PowerTech PSS engines rated at 110 to 135hp, or a six-cylinder 6.8-litre PowerTech PVS engines of 145 and 155hp. All have intelligent power management system (IPM), which adds 20 to 30hp on the four-cylinder models and 40hp on the six-cylinder versions as boost.

The PSS engines have series turbochargers plus a 'lifetime' diesel particulate filter (DPF) and diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) systems to comply with emission regulations and reduce fuel use. To further reduce operating costs, the 6145R and 6155R models also now have a 750-hour engine oil change interval.

As usual from JD, there's a wide range of transmission options - they are available with the proven PowrQuad Plus powershift, or AutoQuad Plus/AutoQuad Plus Ecoshift transmissions; the AutoPowr continuously variable transmission, or the advanced DirectDrive double-clutch transmission.

The 6R Series models also get CommandARM controls, an optional programmable electronic joystick for hydraulic applications and the Generation 4 CommandCenter touch screen monitor, which has a swipe function display for more intuitive, tablet style operation.

The redesigned TLS+ front axle suspension on this range provides improved steering and driving on the road.

They can have up to six SCVs with individual pressure relief levers and a premium front hitch, while three mid-stack SCVs are also available to provide fast and responsive handling of implements.

An electrical loader-ready joystick is also available for use with John Deere's new R Series front loaders and the 6R Series is specifically designed to accommodate these versatile new loaders, which feature new mounting frames and hood guards and are easy to attach and operate.

The loaders have curved booms and can cope with full front axle oscillation, maximum steering angles, fenders and large wheels. Quick tool hitching comes with new 'click and go' mounting frames and the loaders themselves have automatic mast latch for fast and easy fitment to the tractor.

- Also being seen at AgriScot will be John Deere's three-model 8000 range of self-propelled forage harvesters, which are designed to provide up to 15% more productivity, increased uptime, lower operating costs and faster, easier maintenance than the models they replace.

The 8300 has a 490hp Stage IV 13.5-litre engine; the 8700, a 761hp Stage II 19-litre engine; and the top-of-the-range 8800, has a massive 845hp Stage II, 19-litre engine.
