HERE'S the first viewing of one of farming's favourite vehicles, the Land Rover Discovery.

Due to be launched at the Paris Motor Show and the end of this month, Land Rover has given us a sneak preview of their latest take on the popular seven-seat SUV, which will be on sale from early next year.

There's no firm details on the engines and drivetrains, but the Disco looks set to get the 'family' face seen on the Range Rover Evoque and Sport models. What Land Rover will say, is that this latest version will have more electronic packages than you can shake a stick at, including a revolutionary way to utilise the third row of seats.

This means that you can change the seating configuration while not even in the vehicle, doing away with all that knob fiddling and scraped knuckles.

Gerry McGovern, Land Rover’s chief design officer, told The SF: “Our new Discovery redefines the large SUV. Land Rover’s design and engineering teams have revolutionised the Discovery DNA to create a highly desirable, extremely versatile and hugely capable premium SUV.”

Land Rover has also revealed just how important the Scottish market is to them. It's top-selling retailer is Peter Vardy, which has just opened a new outlet in Aberdeen.

This is the latest retailer to take on the brand’s new premium ‘Arch’ corporate identity, which brings a premium experience to buying, selling or servicing a Land Rover product.

Peter Vardy is Britain’s top seller of Land Rover Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque models, with year on year growth of 67% and 11%, respectively.

This investment into Aberdeen Land Rover is part of a nationwide commitment from Jaguar Land Rover franchisees to invest £1bn between 2014 and 2018, which currently employ 8000 people nationwide. By the end of 2018, each UK retailer will have invested between £2m and £15m into the right to sell the product.

The official opening ceremony for Jaguar Land Rover Aberdeen will take place on the November 22.
