SEEN AS an ideal 'Scottish' machine, New Holland's latest rotary combine, CR8.80, had a successful 'roadshow' outing to Scotland this past harvest.

The narrow-bodied CR8.80 has a new Tier 4B emissions compliant engine and the engine tweaks have also made it more responsive, even under a full load. It has the latest FPT Cursor 11 engine, with SCR, which brings this model into synch with the rest of the CR range.

The grain separation system has also undergone a redevelopment, taking cues from the larger CR models. It also comes with redesigned and adjustable airflow vanes to maximise power efficiency and improve grain separation.

New Holland has also improved the centrifugal threshing unit which removes more grain from the straw mat – a feature particularly useful when working with damp straw, hence the 'Scottish' connection!

The CR8.80 has also been given a cab makeover thanks to the latest 'Harvest Suite Ultra' cab. Low noise levels of 73dB and a glass area of 6.3 square metres make for a pleasant working environment and there is also automatic climate control, coolbox and removable fridge.

New Holland’s CommandGrip and IntelliView IV monitor are also standard fitment, while the IntelliSteer system can be added as an option.

Capable of harvesting in excess of 50 tonnes of wheat per hour when fitted with a 9.1m Varifeed table, this machine also now features the Twin Pitch Rotor technology and Dynamic Feed Roll module as fitted to the range topping CR10.90.
