ON PARADE at the recent Tillage Live event from Kuhn was the latest Performer cultivator – a non-powered deep tine-disc unit.
Currently available in 4m and 5m versions, there are five different configurations to suit various soil types. These are: disc, tine and roller; disc and roller; tine and roller; disc only, or as tine only machines.
Mainstream versions comprise of twin disc gangs delivering a 10cm working depth, four rows of tines digging to 35cm, levelling discs and a 700mm diameter HD-Liner roller.
The disc gangs work independently and have 510mm diameter serrated discs, with 30 in total on the 4m model and 38 on the 5m machine. There's 560mm underbeam clearance to cope with large crop residues.
Four rows of tines have 280mm inter-tine spacing and 850mm underbeam clearance. They are curved for optimum mixing and operate with non-stop hydraulic safety at 800-1200kg pressure, with a choice of shares is available for different functionality.
Levelling discs are on curved arms with elastomer protection and have height adjustable border discs. The HD-Liner roller is notched for better rotation and provides 225kg/m downward pressure and can be lifted out of work when not required.
It is fully hydraulically adjustable and folds to a transport width of 3m.
