A NEW 3m Hybrid T3 trailed drill is coming on to the market from Claydon to complement a mounted version.

Spencer Claydon, the company's commercial director, said the new version was as a result of requests from farmers – so much so that Claydon is to also offer a kit to enable those who own a mounted version to convert it to the trailed specification.

The T3 extends the company’s range of Hybrid trailed drills to four models, the 3m T3, 4m T4, 6m T6 and 8m T8. The company is also currently developing a new 4.8m T4.8 model for launch during 2017.

Like other s in the range, it can be used as a seed only drill using its 2455-litre hopper, or a combination of seed and fertiliser, as favoured in Scotland.

Aimed at sowing directly into stubble, it can also be used as min-till or on ploughed/cultivated land, though the big selling point is the Claydon system of direct drilling, which it claimed is typically 50% cheaper than min-till.

Nine individually adjustable tungsten carbide leading tines aerate the soil and create tilth for the seeding zone, while following seeding tines create additional tilth and place seed above the drainage channel.

Claydon said the Hybrid T3 will have an average daily output of 20ha, the new Hybrid T3 can establish up to 700ha of crops per season behind a tractor of at least 112kW (150hp).

The standard spec' includes a hydraulically-driven fan, Claydon-designed metering heads for seeding accuracy, a tramline kit, and a range of options for GPS-controlled variable-rate seeding.
