THE LATEST John Deere fixed chamber round balers, including the top of the range F441R machine, were featured recently on the company’s stand at AgriScot.
The F441R has been developed to meet the high-capacity requirements of contractors and larger livestock farms. Like all F441 Series models, it has a wider bale chamber, up from 1.17 to 1.21m, which automatically translates into an increased bale weight, meaning it needs an extra 18th roller.
They have a choice of 2m or 2.2m pick-ups feeding a high capacity MaxiCut HC rotor, with 13 or 25 knives.
Wear-resistant Hardox steel plates feature on the wearing parts and there's stronger gate roll drive chains, upgraded roller material, larger bearings and improved sealing protection to cope with the heavier bales.
The improvements mean that the F441R has a 9% better output than the previous model – or the equivalent of five bales per hour more.
